Punto Dolce
A pastry shop that has made everything in-house since 2005, and an online shop that had fallen behind. The new website is in the works; meanwhile a holding page talks like the bakery: “we are kneading everything again”.

New website and online shop
Before and after
how it was
The previous online shop, on PrestaShop, was showing its age: the software’s default descriptions instead of the pastry shop’s own words, a menu half in Italian and half in English, a cake configurator with English labels and a price of zero, and a server on a PHP version out of support since 2022.
what we built
The new website and shop are in the works. In the meantime the holding page already carries the new look — the logo made of spots that appear one at a time and Pù, the pastry-chef mascot — with no scripts and no tracking, and a robots.txt already written for the shop to come.

How it is built
-
01
A light holding page
Six requests and about 200 KB, fonts hosted on the site, no scripts: it opens instantly even on a phone in the countryside.
-
02
The voice of the bakery
“We are kneading everything again. The website too.” and “It takes its time, like a well-made leavened dough”: even the temporary page speaks like the pastry shop.
-
03
Ready for the shop
The robots.txt is already the new site’s: basket, checkout and customer area kept out of the index, sorting parameters excluded.
// services involved
